Our Classes

NRA Basic Pistol Course:  Geared toward the beginning shooter, including minors.  This class focuses on semi-automatic pistols and revolvers, and includes learning about safe gun handling techniques, parts of the guns, ammunition and loading, proper shooting fundamentals and gun firing positions, how to clean guns, and the proper storage of guns and ammunition.  A prerequisite for this course is the prior completion of an online portion which is taken through the NRA and can be accessed at the following website: https://basicpistol.nra.org/. (Please note that the NRA sets and collects the fee, currently $60, for the online portion of the course.) This class qualifies all adults for the Florida and Arizona Concealed Carry License, and meets the first 8 hours of the 16-hour training requirement for the Illinois Concealed Carry License. (Cost $110)

Illinois Concealed Carry Course:  Required by any adult wanting to obtain the Illinois Concealed Carry License.  The class covers all of the fundamental topics of the NRA Basic Pistol Course. The class also focuses on State and Federal law on carrying a concealed handgun, the FOID Act, use of force, defense of self and property, unlawful use of weapons, and firearm storage and transportation.  The class also includes holster drills, dry fire practice and the range qualification. Both 8-hour and 16-hour options are available depending on prior training (Cost $100 for 8-hour/$210 for 16-hour)

NRA Basics of Personal Protection in the Home:  Intermediate course focusing on the use of a handgun in order to protect yourself and your family inside the home.  Students learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety, responding to a violent confrontation, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and shooting from various positions and cover. (Cost $150)

NRA Basics of Personal Protection Outside the Home:  Intermediate course focusing on the use of a handgun in order to protect yourself and your family outside the home.  Students learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for safety outside the home, responding to a violent confrontation, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and shooting from various positions and cover. (Cost $150)

Handgun Fundamentals Review Course:  Open to anyone with prior handgun shooting experience.  The class is held entirely at our outdoor gun range.  After a short review of basic safety rules and the shooting fundamentals, students work on loading, firing and unloading at their own pace.  We provide supervision of the firing line, and offer assistance and guidance with shooting fundamentals, techniques and malfunctions as desired by the student. (Cost $15)

One-on-One Training:  Mireya offers Introduction to Pistol Shooting for the beginning shooter who would rather not learn in a group setting. This class generally lasts 4 hours and includes the use of a pistol and ammunition. (Cost $95).  Mireya also offers Concealed Carry Day 1 and Day 2 for those who are unable to attend the weekend course or who would rather not take the course in a group setting.   Each day will be broken up into two 4-hour sessions. (Cost $160 for Day 1 and $160 for Day 2).   One-on-One training is available on weekdays between the hours of 8 am and 2 pm, and exact times and dates will be arranged based on Mireya’s and the client’s schedule.  Contact Mireya if you would like one-on-one training for two or three persons.

Refuse To Be A Victim: This seminar teaches you the personal safety tips and techniques you need to minimize your vulnerability to criminals and how to avoid becoming a victim. The class does not involve firearms or offer physical self-defense training. Rather, we teach you how to enhance your personal safety through awareness and avoidance (Cost $20).
